Yuille Park Community College and Ballarat Community Health (BCH) celebrate the launch of the Yuille Park Young Parent Program café on Friday 15th September at BCH Lucas from 11am.
The Café is a VCAL based project offering young parents the opportunity to learn invaluable life skills through managing a café. The café is open to the public every Thursday and the students design and prepare a delicious weekly menu.
The project is the brainchild of Yuille Park teachers, Renee Vallance and Megan Hillias. Each week students meet at the Delacombe campus with children in tow to design and plan the forthcoming menu.
This unique program encourages self-confidence in students through both management of the café and interaction with customers.
The Young Parents Program celebrated its ten year anniversary in 2016. “The program is about a whole community approach to helping young mums get back into education and getting their life back on track,” said Mr Innes, Program Coordinator. The Café adds to the broad range of skills offered by the program.
BCH is delighted to host the program in its café facility in the foyer of the Lucas site.
