Gym at Lucas
IMPORTANT: Given the economic impact of the current COVID 19 pandemic the Lucas Gym will no longer be open to the general public on a membership basis. BCH has made a considered decision to cease the public gym hours (early mornings, evenings and Saturday mornings) and will only be providing exercise programs to a targeted population who meet the eligibility requirements.
This change will enable BCH to re-distribute resources and focus on the continued delivery of the BCH remedial/rehabilitation exercise programs for individuals at most risk of developing/or having a chronic illness and the delivery of some group exercise programs for the broader community.
Strength for Life Session Times (Covid Restricted)
Falls Prevention Group (Lucas only at this stage)
PD Warrior (Lucas only)
Access to the Lucas Gym will no longer be available during the public gym hours (early mornings, late afternoons and Saturday morning) effective immediately.
Yoga, tai chi and Pilates are currently being reviewed as to the logistics and viability of continuing these programs. More information will be provided as soon as a timetable is developed.
Teen gym, boxing and bootcamp will no longer be available.
BCH will continue to offer targeted exercise programs such as the Strength for Life program– formerly known as Living Longer Living Stronger; Seniors Fitness and Falls Prevention. These programs will only be available to people who meet the particular eligibility requirements and have been assessed by an Exercise Physiologist.
Eligibility requirements may vary, however primarily you need to be at least 50 years of age or younger if you have a chronic illness.
The Strength for Life Program is a strength training program suitable for individuals over the age of 50, or younger if they have a chronic disease.
This program allows for an individual to participate in a strength training program, developed specifically for them by an Exercise Physiologist and will be offered at the Lucas gym Monday – Fridays from 8:30 – 11:00am. Additional afternoon sessions may be available (times to be advised). An assessment by an Exercise Physiologist is required prior to commencing.
If you have not heard from us about your membership, please call (03) 5338 4516.
The delivery of all BCH exercise programs are currently under review to meet the Victorian Government’s COVID 19 restrictions and social distancing requirements.
A date has not been confirmed as to when they will re-commence, however if you are interested in participating in any of these programs please contact BCH Tel: (03) 5338 4500 to register your interest and arrange the required assessment.
