New after-hours supports bring care to community when they need it most

From Wednesday 27th April 2022, the Ballarat community will have access to mental health and/or alcohol and other drugs (AOD) supports after traditional business hours.

This new service from Ballarat Community Health, supported by Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN), brings clients the care they need it at a time that’s convenient for them.

Operating Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturdays by appointment only, the FREE service will ensure support services are available to all community members, no matter their background, work situation, life commitments or financial status.

CEO of Ballarat Community Health, Sean Duffy says the program is an innovative approach to bridging gaps between clients and care.

“This new service model has not been seen in the region before. It is FREE and available to anyone.”

“After hours support options mean people who are busy with work, children and other important life commitments – which unfortunately often take precedence over treatment – will have access to the support they need at a time that works for them.”

“You don’t need to know whether you need mental health support first or alcohol and other drug support – you just need to know you need help. Our team will work out the rest.”

Participation in the after-hours support sessions is easy to arrange. Clients simply need to complete the Expression of Interest process via www.bchc.org.au/afterhourscare

The Ballarat Community Health after hours services will be available to individuals, groups and families/carers/significant others of people with mental health and/or AOD support needs from 27th April. Sessions will run weekly for the remainder of 2022.
