Sexual and reproductive health education

The Sexual and Reproductive Health education program aims to reduce the incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and improve reproductive autonomy in young people, through improving knowledge, attitudes, skills and help-seeking behaviour in secondary school students and other high risk young people in that age group not attending school.

It achieves this by delivering tailored education sessions including open discussion amongst young people about healthy relationships and sexual decision making. Discussion topics include:
• Ballarat Community Health Sexual Health Clinic
• What is safer sex
• Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
• Contraception options and efficacy
• How to use a condom effectively

This program is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and utilises content and resources developed by Sexual Health Victoria.
