Alcohol and other drug day rehabilitation program – Making a Change (MAC)

MAC is a FREE structured 8-week, alcohol, and other drug rehabilitation program.

The program aims to:

  • promote behaviour change
  • improve lifestyle, health and wellbeing
  • Reduce or cease the risks, harms and consequences of alcohol and other drug use
  • assist participants to improve feelings of social connectedness
  • improve daily living skills.

The eight-week program runs Tuesday-Thursday with Friday being an optional half day. Program hours are 9:30am–3:30pm. It runs four times a year within school terms:

  • February–March
  • April–June
  • July–September
  • October–December

This program is for people 18 years and older who experience problematic alcohol and/or other drug use.

Clients will need to have ceased or stabilised their substance use; stable mental health; basic English literacy skills; a moderate level of intellectual and cognitive functioning that will allow for program participation; and self-motivation and capability for self-management. Referral does not guarantee successful enrolment. An assessment will be undertaken to ensure suitability, after which referrers will be notified of the outcome.
