Making a Change

The Making a Change program (MAC) is a structured eight-week alcohol and other drug day rehabilitation program.

The program aims to:

  • promote behaviour change
  • improve lifestyle, health and wellbeing
  • Reduce or cease the risks, harms and consequences of alcohol and other drug use
  • assist participants to improve feelings of social connectedness
  • improve daily living skills.

This program is for people 18 years and older who have experienced problematic alcohol or other drug use, and requires self-motivation and self-management.

The eight-week program runs Tuesday-Friday (Fridays are optional), 9:30–3:30pm. It runs four times a year:

  • February–March
  • April–June
  • July–September
  • October–December

Making a Change program

IMPORTANT! Please allow approximately 15 minutes to complete this form. It must be completed in one session—you will not be able to 'save and continue'. Clients will need to have ceased or stabilised their substance use; stable mental health; basic English literacy skills; a moderate level of intellectual and cognitive functioning that will allow for program participation; and self-motivation and capability for self-management. Referral does not guarantee successful enrolment. An assessment will be undertaken to ensure suitability, after which referrers will be notified of the outcome.
