Finding Your Community

Real Stories

Mental health

As far as the mental health is concerned, I’m somebody who benefited enormously from being referred on to a psychologist. I can sit here and tell you that I still don’t understand how it works, you know, but it really benefited me. All I used to do was go and talk for an hour, you know, like I didn’t appear to leave with formulas and I genuinely would find it really hard to explain how it works. All I know is that it did work. I no longer have that type of support in my life. I did have it for a number of years and I really, really benefited, you know.

— DJ, Ballarat
There are more than three hundred groups, clubs and services listed here, all of them in Ballarat and the towns around it. Some meet weekly, some once a month, and a good many cost nothing at all. Search for something in particular, or choose one of the headings and see what turns up. Details do change, so it is worth ringing ahead where there is a number.
